Casa Monte – A Rustic Guesthouse at Monte Grande
What used to be a barn and stable is now a stylish, two-storey guesthouse hosting up to six guests.
It offers three bedrooms overlooking an exclusive outdoor lawn. The main entrance, by the parking area, is on the first floor and shares a lobby with our caretaker’s apartment. A separate entrance on the garden level
leads to a living room, with a wood-burning fireplace and to a fully equipped kitchen, both of which share beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
There is a guest bathroom on the ground floor and
a separate utility room with washing and drying facilities.

Kitchen dining
Fully equipped with fridge, deep freezer, gas hob and electric oven, the kitchen faces east so you can have a sunny breakfast and lunch, inside or outside, where the original stone table can also host alfresco dinners.

Living room
The oldest part of the building is now Casa Monte’s living room. The vaulted shape of the ceiling is called ‘a cipolla’ (‘like an onion’) and is a feature of this area’s rural architecture, that dates back to the 17th century. In the old days the space would have been a stable. Warm and cosy in mid-season, and cool during summer, this charming room has a beautiful view of the Grigna mountain and opens out onto an exclusive courtyard.

Bedroom 1
Originally part of the hayloft, this room has sweeping views and two small private balconies. You can sit and welcome the morning sun or watch the sunset turn into the moonrise.

Bedroom 2
The two French windows open out onto small private balconies and the same panoramic outlook as the master bedroom.

The bathroom, shared with bedroom 3, has a large walk-in shower. -
Bedroom 3
The barn extends to the back of the building and has a high timber ceiling, now an attractive feature of this comfortable room, which faces west and enjoys the warm afternoon light.
